100th Anniversary Celebration
On October 11, 2009, Fathers Foley and Werning celebrated Mass marking the 100th anniversary of the Palisades neighborhood's Catholic parish. The Mass was preceded by a musical prelude featuring mezzo soprano Michelle Rice and a string quartet from the National Symphony Orchestra and followed by a champagne brunch in the parish's Hess-Honda Auditorium-named for a former pastor, the late Msgr. Carl Hess, and a longtime parishioner, the late Raymond Honda. Awards for service to the church and the community were also presented to two dozen parishioners during the event.
